Rooted Epiphyllum Oxypetalum plants grown from cuttings. This species is a popular night blooming epiphytic cactus, often called "Queen of the night" on account of its large (over 9 in. or 23 cm), pungent, vanilla scented flowers. E. oxypetalum flowers in bursts, usually with multiple flowers blooming and wilting over if a night. It is native to tropical mesoamerica, and tends to be more moisture tolerant than most cacti. It is a remarkably easy plant to grow. Once the plants have established themselves in soil they will grow quickly. As with all cacti however they will do best in a loamy, well draining soil.

  • Plants may appear wrinkled upon arrival, this is normal, plants are just dehydrated due to shipping and will "plump up" in time. All plants are greenhouse grown and are pest free, however due to this plants must be eased into direct sunlight over several days, otherwise plants will sunburn. Use well draining soil. Plants cannot sit in water, but prefer regular watering once every 9 days or when soil is dry. Plants are not cold hardy and must be brought indoors should temperature drop below 32°F (0°C). Between December and March plants ship insulated in packing paper and a mylar heat blanket to protect against extremes.
